Here is a screenshot of my timeline in Premiere Pro, it shows how I have edited all the clips together and added the different audio clips.
My Short Film ~ here is the link to my final edit
In this clip you can see that i have used the video transition Dip to white - I used this effect to show the audience that it is a flashback and the following scene has previously happened and needed to have happened for the following scene to happen. In this clip I have used the video transition dip to black - I used this on this clip to show the audience that some time has passed between two clips and it hasn't happened straight after the previous one. I've also used it to add some suspense between each clip and there be a small pause where the audience doesn't know what is about to happen next.
In this screenshot you can see where I have added in some foley of the locket falling to the floor. I added this because as she is moving you can see the locket fall out of her pocket but it isn't that clear, as I added the sound of it falling to make it easier to notice and have further understanding of the story.
In this screenshot you can see the colour changes I have made to the footage, I darkened it slightly and I also added blue/purple to the overall colour of the footage as well as fading it slightly. This helped to show the passing of tie throughout the footage and added a thriller aspect to the film as the footage darkens as time goes on.
Here I have changed the levels of the sound throughout a couple of video clips. This is because this is the part where you see Tommy tied up and trapped, it is the most intense part of the short film therefore I have changed the levels of the audio to add the tension and build up the volume as it gets more intense.
- The part of my project I am most proud of is the editing in post-production. Our footage was very grainy due to the fact we had high iso when filming. By colour grading the footage I managed to reduce the graininess slightly and make it look darker and more faded using effects.
- The most difficult part of this project was organisation of filming times as well as filming itself. When we were filming we wanted to get the feel of him walking home as it was getting dark outside but due to the fact that we filmed when it was getting dark it resulted in us having high iso levels and consequently made the footage grainy. I overcame this slightly by using different colours and effects to fade the film as well as make it blue/purple as this gave the feel off time passing but other slightly reduced the noise.
- The lessons i have learnt and will take into my next project is to film in the day and not try to film when it is dark or getting dark as this will help to reduce the iso of the footage and I now understand that I can change the colouring of the footage at a later date in post production and editing.
- Next time I will make sure I double check the camera settings before I start filming to make sure I end up with the best quality footage I can have.
- I will be sharing this video by uploading it onto Youtube and from there I will either send people the link to watch themselves or show them myself when i am with them.
